Good morning,
Customers/ Patients / Associates,
As some of you may know, today is International Worker’s Memorial Day. Each year on April 28th, International Worker’s Memorial Day is recognized in multiple ceremonies throughout New York State and around the world. The April 28th date coincides with the creation of OSHA, The Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Today, at the request of our UFCW/RWDSU Union partners, we will be participating in a “Moment of Reflection” to honor our most important asset, our employees. This morning we hope you join us and spend two minutes reflecting on all essential workers, but especially on those Healthcare, Food related and other Service Industry, grocery, pharmacy, agricultural, and packing house workers, whose lives have been impacted by COVID-19. It has been 2 years since our world was first impacted by Covid-19 and so much has changed. We ask that you recognize the extraordinary efforts of our associates as they have continued to work every day, selflessly serving their communities through this global crisis.
We have agreed to provide our employees the opportunity to pause their day and share in a united moment of coordinated reflection with their co-workers, as well as fellow Union members throughout the grocery/labor industry. We are proud to allow our employees this time to honor their fellow Union Sisters and Brothers who have passed away. This year, as we reflect upon all the hardships we faced during this trying time, we also remember our friends, family, co-workers who have passed as a result to Covid-19 and all those who are currently suffering.
Most importantly today we ask you to remember and honor all essential workers and first responders who worked the front lines during the pandemic.
This time of reflection is an opportunity for all of us to remember how safe and careful we must be when working, and remember how important we are in helping feed and provide for the communities we both live and work in. Thank you for your time, and once again, thank you to all the essential workers, not only today, but, every day!
In Solidarity,
Louis Mark Carotenuto – President
