UFCW Local 2013 Honors Labor Day
Dear Local 2013 Members,
This Labor Day, you, along with the 13,000 hard-working members of Local 2013 should take a moment to recognize the incredible impact we all have by standing together.
From one corner of this nation to the next, it is our unity that allows us to negotiate for better wages and benefits, safer workplaces, and a more secure retirement. Being part of our union family means you’re helping shape a better future, not just for yourself, but for generations of future UFCW members to come.
It is our commitment to building a better life that compels all of us within the UFCW International to create new opportunities for our members and their families, including GED training and access to wide ranging associate and bachelor’s programs through our Discount College Program – which you can learn more about here.
It is our belief that our members’ jobs and livelihoods matter and that we must stand up for better contracts and compel our employers to do the right thing. That’s why we urge you to participate in meetings and bargaining efforts to improve your contracts each cycle, because it’s through that collective action & solidarity that we see improvements and overall gains at the bargaining table.
Lastly, we remain committed to growing our union, both locally and internationally; and with the many recent UFCW successes organizing in a wide variety of industries we demonstrate that workers are recognizing the real strength of being part of a union.
Whether you work in grocery, retail, meatpacking and food processing, healthcare, pharmacy, cannabis, distillery, or another industry, your commitment to our union family has made an immeasurable and lasting difference in the lives of so many.
Thank you for all that you do and may you and your family have a safe Labor Day.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Louis Mark Carotenuto, President
